New Doors being installed at Lone Wolf School

Thanks to the 2023 law passed by the Oklahoma legislature, Security Program Funds were given to each Oklahoma school to help improve school safety. Lone Wolf Schools decided to spend some of this funding on new, more secure doors for all the outside entrances. Pete's Glass in Mangum has been contracted to install the new doors, increasing the safety and security of our students and staff.

A message from Superintendent John Lazenby

The Oklahoma legislators recently passed a new law (SB139) that will prohibit
students across the state from using their cell phones and other personal
electronic devices while on campus during the school day. As required by law, the
Lone Wolf Board of Education recently updated and approved their Board Policy
to meet this new mandate.

What the Law Requires:
•For the 2025-2026 school year, each school district Board of Education shall
adopt a policy prohibiting students from using cell phones and personal
electronic devices while on campus of a public school district from BELL-TO-
BELL unless for medical needs.
•For the 2026-2027 school year and beyond, continue enforcement is
optional, and more local control is given to each Board of Education.
•The law went into effect July 1, 2025.

What Lone Wolf Board of Education Policy States:
•Use of personal electronic devices is prohibited by students on the school
campus from BELL-TO- BELL (from start of the school day to the end of the
instructional day, including lunch time and between classes).
•Includes any personal electronic device that can connect to a smartphone,
internet, cellular/Wi-Fi, or similar device (smart watches, smart headphones,
tablets, smart glasses, etc.)
•Does not include school-issued or school-approved instructional devices.

What Students Should Know:
•Devices brought to school will be checked in, before the first bell, and stored
in a cell phone locker. Devices will be returned to students at the end of the
school day.
•Repeated violations will result in disciplinary consequences as outlined in the
Student Handbook.
•Bringing a phone or electronic device is a personal choice. Lone Wolf Public
Schools is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Ultimately, the purpose of this law is to protect instructional time and help
students learn by minimizing distractions during the school day. We
understand it will be a big challenge for everyone but hope we can work
together to provide the best possible learning environment for our students.

Hey, did you see the new Shade Pergola in the playground at Lone Wolf School?

Now our elementary school teachers can supervise the kiddos during recess without sitting in the hot sun. The students can also use it to cool off after an intense session in the playground. The structure was built by Alumni Paul Bruce Koester with funds generously donated by Neil and Renae Vitale.

The water is finally flowing again in the Lone Wolf School Science Lab.

Thanks to Steve Walker Plumbing and funding from our recently passed bond issue, plumbing has been restored in the Science Lab! Our students can now spend more time with their experiments and no longer have to clean their lab equipment in the Home Economics room across the hall. This is just the start of the renovations that will be occurring at the school this fall. Thanks again to the people of Lone Wolf who helped pass the bond issue. We'll be sure to keep you updated!.
